DISCUSSION BOARD - DEVELOPMENTS:
Welding is the process of fusing two separate pieces of metal together. Of them this is used with sheet metal. Sheet metal is a “thin” piece of metal that is easily bendable and cut. This can be used to make objects such as tool boxes and or to patch a large metallic object like a boat. When working with sheet metal, it is key to first stick with basic geometric shapes, and then later sand it down to make smoother edges, this makes it easier to bend with sharper edges. You could also make curved edges with a plasma table.I have satisfied this standard when I had made several objects out of sheet metal in my auto-shop class. My main accomplishment was making a tool box with a removable trey in it. The process was long, involving marking and bending various pieces of different patterned pieces of sheet metal, then riveting them together, or by using a small welding tool that you clamp together. My future goals on this subject is to learn how to hand weld larger pieces of equipment together.
